I am interested in understanding the mechanisms by which the human brain processes information. I first approached these questions through two defining human capacities: language and music. In this context, I investigated the role of bursts of neural activity in encoding both speech and music listening, exploring how these transient dynamics support perception and comprehension.
I have been investigating the hierarchical structure of interactions leveraged by the brain to integrate information and sustain cognitive functions. In a collaborative project, we benchmarked many recently developed methods based on information theory and topological data analysis. I have been employing similar methods to investigating causal learning analysing MEG and sEEG data to understand how neural activity encodes information about causal relationships in the environment.
